Feast Day for Our Lady of Guadalupe

Next Wednesday, on 12/12/12 is the special feast day for Our Lady of Guadalupe and because it is also the midway point for the Finding Water Ajijic Artist Way group the Donato Guerra Artist Way Salon is hosting a Potluck Feast in her honour. The Artist Way group will have their usual check in at noon followed by the luncheon at about 1 p.m. Guests are most welcome at the feast so we looking forward to seeing you all upstairs in the Salon! 2a Donato Guerra right beside Number Four Restaurante. Look for la puerta blanca. And yes, do bring those Artist Trading Cards for swapping!

Soul Collage Cards

At the end of Session Five with the theme of Autonomy I invited the group to make a soul collage card. The prompt was ‘I am one who…’ Soul Collage was devised by a woman called Seena Frost and there are soul collage groups and facilitators worldwide. Basically through the use of evocative images from photos and magazines you make your own very personalized tarot deck that you can use for future readings. There are four suits and a Source card. I attended an all day workshop a couple of years ago in Vancouver, B.C. and am contemplating taking the facilitator training in Portland, Oregon in April when I return from Mexico. Luna Azul Six Artist Collective

I went to the Ajijic Society of the Arts meeting this a.m. at La Bodega and signed up for our very first Open Studio on February 9th and 10th. So far there will be six artists represented. Colleen Huntress, Jan Manning, Julie Mignard, Ella Fournier, Carolina Beck and myself. We still have space for one artists if your work can be displayed on a table or bookcase or even easels on the outside sidewalk. 

I am tremendously honoured to be part of this special event which I am treating as an multimedia art installation work in its own right. We will have live music and excellence botanas y bebidas for sure. AND for the very first time ( as far as I know!) an area for making and trading Artist Trading Cards will be available for both the resident attending artists and our visitors. I am still seeking a mural artist for the outside sidewalk area leading up to la puerta blanca.
